How to Present on Google Meet using VideoCom Presenter

Google Meet is one of the most widely used platforms for business meetings today. In addition to being exceedingly simple to use and learn, Google Meet's free version packs in all the essential features that I personally find useful for my presentations and slide decks, including the ability to share my screens and windows.

But, if you're like me and like to heavily incorporate videos into your presentations, the usual presentation tools such as PowerPoint and Google Slides won't be enough. To show a video, the typical solution is to go into Google Meet and change screen shares mid-presentation, which can break the flow of your presentation and, worse yet, potentially waste time for you and your audience.

That's where VideoCom Presenter comes in, a presentation software that not only allows me to import slides I already built but also add extra media on top of my slides, like my webcam, video files, webpages, and screenshares. It can do all the heavy lifting for presenting my slides alongside any videos or other types of media that I want to show as I flip through my presentation. I'll show you how you can import your slides and then display them on Google Meet.

Setting up VideoCom Presenter

First, you will need VideoCom Presenter for this. You can get the latest version on the software's official page here.

Once installed and opened, it will initially ask you to connect a presentation. You can import an existing PowerPoint presentation, Google Slides presentation, PDF file, or cancel and create all your slides from scratch.

VideoCom has a helpful guide on how to build your slides here. When you're all set with the slides, here are the two methods to get the presentation up on Google Meet.

Method 1: Project to a screen and capture with Google Meet

The most common method. This first method involves using VideoCom Presenter's Project feature and capturing the window with Google Meet.

On VideoCom Presenter, click Present at the bottom of the window. Select Project to a screen, and then select which monitor you want to display it to. As soon as you click OK, a new window will appear and cover your chosen monitor.

If it somehow covers the monitor you use VideoCom Presenter on, you can press Alt+Tab to switch windows without losing the fullscreen or press the Esc key to exit the fullscreen mode.

Now on Google Meet, click the Present Now icon and select Window on the list. You'll be provided with a list of open application windows. Click the one that says VPT Projector on the list.

Method 2: VideoCom Presenter's Virtual Camera

Compared to the first method, this second method has a much simpler setup and will use VideoCom Presenter's virtual camera feature.

On Google Meet, go to Settings. In the Video tab and under Camera, select VideoCom Presenter on the list.

Go to Settings > Click the Video tab > Under Camera, select VideoCom Presenter

When done correctly, your presentation will appear on top of your camera. Just be sure to ask your audience to Pin your camera, or else it will get buried among the other cameras that may be open in the Google Meet room.
