Tips for a Successful Online Presentation

Many industries today are driven by the willingness to adapt to change, and one such change is how people have kept their businesses running despite the need for people in the workplace to work remotely.
Needless to say, we’ve accepted the fact that most (if not all) of the work we do nowadays is done online, but that does not mean we won’t be prioritizing how we look on our webcams during online presentations. Remember how we used to consider what clothes to wear for our onsite client meetings? Looking presentable even when online is just as important. Moreover, having the right set of tools at your disposal definitely helps.

Always be prepared
Okay, you’ve got your hair done and dressed the part: That’s great! But that doesn’t end there. You also need to check your equipment and surroundings. Most cameras need sufficient lighting to produce the best picture possible. Although having the most recent full HD camera helps, it’s not always the solution–you will be surprised at how a simple thing like good lighting can significantly enhance your picture quality.
It’s also important to use a camera background that’s consistent with your company’s image. Just to be on the safe side of things, clean background with no clutter always does the job.
Audio quality should always be an essential part of your setup as well. Make sure to invest in audio equipment that can give justice to your well-modulated voice to entice everyone to keep listening during your presentation.
Finally, check your internet connection if it’s up to the task. Some internet service providers offer high download but slow upload speeds–this would cause lag and problems with picture quality during your online meetings. Opting for an ethernet connection instead of Wi-fi will also result in a more stable connection overall.

A pleasing camera personality
Let’s say you’ve got the basics covered: a good background and lighting, as well as the appropriate outfit. The way you project yourself in front of the camera is also key to leaving a good impression on your audience. Make sure to place your camera where the upper half of your body is properly framed right at the center. Consider giving yourself enough space to show hand gestures, which is an added bonus if you want a more personal touch on how you go about your report.

Not all contagious things are bad. A smile is scientifically proven to lighten up the mood of whoever sees it. Make it a habit to add a dash of positivity when presenting online by being in your best mood possible. Surprisingly, this practice also affects how well you speak. It’s nice to see and listen to someone who give out a pleasant aura–a sure way to level up the engagement level of your online meeting.
